Replace 2007 Honda Civic Cabin Air Filter

Cabin air filters, one time equipped exclusively on luxury vehicles, are now present in plenty of mid-level & economy cars, including the 2007 Honda Civic. The Civic's cabin air filter requires replacement at 15,000-mile intervals. Changing the filter is a straightforward procedure that takes less than ten minutes. The filter prevents particles, such as pollen & dust, from entering your Civic's interior.

Open the glove box. Remove any contents.

Start from the passenger side of the dash & pull the trim panel back, working your way towards the middle console; the left side won't come out, so don't break it. Leave the panel pulled out from the dash.

Pull the elderly filters out of the frames, install the new ones (ensuring to tuck them under the frame tabs), & reinstall. Replace the access door, replace the hinge tabs back in to the bottom of the glove box, replace the glove box contents & close the glove box.

Remove the glove box from the dash. Open the glove box & pull it towards you, though some models like the 2000 Accords need pulling the glove box up, then towards you.

Change 2002 Honda Civic Cabin Air Filter

The 2002 Honda Civic has two cabin air filters behind the glove box. Honda recommends changing the cabin air filters in the 2002 Civic once a year or every 15,000 miles. Driving in dusty conditions requires more frequent replacement. A dirty cabin air filter restricts air flow in the passenger cabin and is less effective at trapping allergens and dust. If the cabin air filters in the Civic are dirty, they should be replaced with new ones.

Examine the bottom corners of the glove box door (with the door closed). You'll see a screw at each end.

Allow the glove box to drop down and locate the cabin air filter access door on the right.

Unscrew the Phillips head screws and the 10mm bolts from the metal support bar. Remove the bar by lifting up on one end and then the other.

Remove the old filters from the filter frames. Insert the new filters into the frames, making sure the tabs around the edge of the frame are holding the filter in place.

Replace Cabin Air Filter Honda Civic

The cabin filter in your Honda automobile cleans all of the air that comes in through your ventilation method. If not changed on a regular basis, dirt & debris may cause reduced air flow, mold & disagreeable smells.

Open the glove box & empty all it of all contents.

Pivot the glove box down toward the floor. Locate the cabin air filter access door behind the glove box area.

Pull open the glove box & remove the plastic stoppers located at the back on each side. Press in on the outside of the stopper, towards the inside of the glove box; you'll feel a pop & the stoppers will come free. Close the glove box.

Push the replacement cabin air filter in to the slot. Make positive the arrows on the new filter panel are pointing down. Push the tabs inward to secure the filter.

Clean a Honda Civic Cabin Air Filter

If you care about the quality of air you are breathing outside, you may think about the air you are breathing while driving your Honda Civic. Most newer cars now come equipped with cabin air filters that filter pollutants & allergens from entering the cab of the vehicle. Finding the cabin air filters can be more challenging then replacing them. On the Honda Civic, it is not bad so forgo the labor charges & do it yourself.

Open the passenger side front door & remove the small triangular panel on the side of the dash. Unscrew the Phillips head screws behind the panel.

Press in on the hinge tabs on both sides of the glove box. Grasp the part of the tabs that moved inward & pull them farther inward to remove them.

Locate the hinge tabs on the bottom of the glove box on both the left & right sides. Remove the tabs by hand.

Locate the black panel labelled "Air Flow." This is the finish of the cabin air filter. Push back the tabs on the sides of the panel. Grasp the panel & pull it out to remove the cabin air filter.
