The 2002 Honda Civic has two cabin air filters behind the glove box. Honda recommends changing the cabin air filters in the 2002 Civic once a year or every 15,000 miles. Driving in dusty conditions requires more frequent replacement. A dirty cabin air filter restricts air flow in the passenger cabin and is less effective at trapping allergens and dust. If the cabin air filters in the Civic are dirty, they should be replaced with new ones.
Examine the bottom corners of the glove box door (with the door closed). You'll see a screw at each end.
Allow the glove box to drop down and locate the cabin air filter access door on the right.
Unscrew the Phillips head screws and the 10mm bolts from the metal support bar. Remove the bar by lifting up on one end and then the other.
Remove the old filters from the filter frames. Insert the new filters into the frames, making sure the tabs around the edge of the frame are holding the filter in place.
